Abstract
The PAR index and Summers' Occlusal Index have both been used to assess orthodontic treatment standards. The validity and reliability of these two indices is compared when applied to a group of 80 study models. The more recently developed PAR index was found to be as reliable and as valid as Summers' Occlusal Index.
