Both compounds showed strong antibacterial activity not only against MRSA but also against vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). There was low or no antibacterial activity of C2 and C3 for Streptococcus pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Serratia marcescens.
