Abstract:

Recently, there has been a rise in the incidence of E-cigarettes/Vaping Associated Lung Injury (EVALI) in the United States mostly involving Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Present treatment strategies for EVALI are aimed at controlling the inflammatory and infectious etiologies in addition to supportive care. While most patients improve with supportive measuresthe long-term pulmonary effects of this illness are still not well defined. In this report, we describe a case of EVALI resulting in progressive, irreversible destruction of the lung parenchyma that was treated with double lung transplantation.
