Abstract:

Excerpt: "AIDS: Isotretinoin, an oral vitamin A derivative, produced positive results in seven patients suffering from HIV-related eosinophilic folliculitis, itchy bumps around inflamed hair roots. All 7 had some relief from their symptoms after 2 weeks of treatment. Four had complete remission after only one course of treatment. Further treatment with the drug was necessary for three patients who relapsed. All patients continued to be free of the condition for up to 9 months following therapy. Isotretinoin has been used as a treatment for acne."
