Study: Many Breast Tumors Will Spontaneously Regress

A groundbreaking study published in The Lancet Oncology shows for the first time that many screen-detected invasive breast tumors spontaneously regress when undiagnosed and untreated

The study investigated the natural history of breast cancers detected in the Swedish mammography screening program between 1986 to 1990, involving 650,000 women.

New Research: Laptops Harm Fertility

Technologies like laptops, while freeing us from the altar-like monolith of the traditional desktop, may have unique adverse effects to the human body. After all, they are lap tops -- beneath which are situated our reproductive organs and glands.

I confess that for many years I have secretly cringed at the thought of what the electromagnetic radiation issuing from this device is doing to my capability to reproduce, and the quality of my future progeny -- which is why I always positioned the device away from my groin. It is for this reason that the new study published in The Journal of Fertility and Sterility showing Wi-Fi radiation from laptops damages sperm, comes at no surprise.

Pepper Spray: A Potentially Lethal Chemical Weapon

John Pike, U.C. Davis Pepper-Spraying Police Officer

Were it not for the stoic immovability of the protestors in this picture, the image would resemble even more stunningly an exterminator dispassionately spraying a nest of roaches ... only, roaches know what to expect, which is why they scatter in all directions when approached with chemicals designed to harm them.

Who, among these young protestors, could rightly have expected to be doused -- directly in the eyes -- with a purportedly "non-lethal" chemical weapon, simply for sitting there?

Drugs, the Illegality of Healing and Pharmageddon

Drugs, the Illegality of Healing and Pharmageddon

To most of us, the word "drug" conjures varied, if not diametrically opposed images and connotations. On the one hand, "drugs" are illegal substances, associated with addiction, bodily harm, crime, and other unpleasant experiences. These drugs include cocaine, amphetamine, marijuana and heroin, and are generally not considered to have medicinal effects

Is Your Multivitamin Toxic?

In episode #11 (season 2) of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, a woman poisons her husband with the chemical sodium selenite. Strange as it may sound, this exotic murder weapon, and it's close cousin, sodium selenate, are listed as "nutrients" on the labels of most mass-marketed vitamins. Even though both sodium selenite and selenate are classified as dangerous and toxic to the environment by regulatory bodies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the European Union, they are the primary forms of this mineral - selenium - sold on the mass market today.

Going Against the Grain Towards Better Health

Going Against the Grain Towards Better Health

Grains are often called the "staff of life," having a sort of credibility that is biblical in proportion. So prevalent is the perception that grains make for "good food" that the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) - which is the United Nation's international agency for defeating hunger - uses a head of wheat as its emblem, with the Latin Fiat Panis or "Let There Be Bread" as its motto

Despite the rather lofty secular position a loaf of whole grain bread may hold in the international community, the biblical record actually shows that the first foods mentioned in the Bible were the Herbs and Fruit Trees (Genesis 1:29) and that by punishment for sin God gave man bread:

Opening Pandora's Bread Box: The Critical Role of Wheat Lectin in Human Disease.

Now that celiac disease has been allowed official entry into the annals of established medical conditions, and gluten intolerance is no longer entirely a fringe medical concept, the time has come to draw attention to the powerful little chemical in wheat known as 'wheat germ agglutinin' (WGA) which is largely responsible for many of wheat's pervasive, and difficult-to-diagnose, ill effects
