The U.S. rejected the U.N. declaration on noncommunicable diseases, claiming its goals are weak and insufficient. In a speech last week to the U.N., U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. warned the declaration ignores the role of ultraprocessed foods in the global rise in chronic disease and lets industry off the hook.
