2014 National Health Federation Health Freedom Hero Award

The National Health Federation names Katherine A. Carroll, NTP, the Health Freedom Hero of 2014.

The NHF Board of Governors voted to present the NHF Health Freedom Hero Award for 2014 to Katherine A. Carroll, NTP, Associate Editor for her unceasing efforts on behalf of health freedom and the National Health Federation. The Award was presented to her by NHF President Scott Tips on the occasion of the Federation's 60^th anniversary celebration in Woodland Hills, California last January 31^st.

Katherine Carroll joined the Federation in the Summer of 2011, working first as a volunteer for 22 months in every area where she could further NHF and health freedom before joining NHF as staff. Health and health freedom has been Katherine's passion since her early 20s, having experienced drug-free pregnancies, natural childbirth, a home birth, and breastfeeding her three children. The desire to protect those who cannot speak for themselves is strong in Katherine and it begins before conception. Later solving the family's health issues more holistically sealed her intense commitment to health and preserving the integrity of the body/mind/spirit complex.

This strong foundation led to becoming a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in 2004 gaining certification through the Nutritional Therapy Association who has since gone on to sponsor many of Katherine's attendances at Codex Alimentarius. Later she opened one of the first comprehensive dispensaries in their Optometry clinic, Medical Vision Center, specializing in ocular nutrition, and writing blogs and articles on healing the eye naturally. Joining the Optometric Nutrition Society and the Advisory Board of GreenMedInfo gave further reach to her writing as did writing for Health Freedom News. 

During this time, Katherine's home, Adytum Sanctuary, was opened to the public as a healing retreat hosted by Katherine and her husband Dr. Donn Carroll. Most of her guests will tell you they learned first of National Health Federation at Adytum as Katherine enthusiastically shares magazines and information freely in that venue believing that "We must fight to the death for health freedom because we will die if we do not fight for it."

From 2011, Katherine's principal passions with NHF lay in creating bridges for the Federation with other groups and individuals and in raising funds. Loving research, Katherine conducts research for NHF to facilitate its work at Codex Alimentarius meetings and in fighting its other battles both nationally and internationally.  Now working as the National Health Federation's Associate Editor of Health Freedom News and Director of Social Media and Outreach, as well as in many other areas, she is without a doubt a strong missionary for NHF, who has attended a number of Codex meetings herself.  Perhaps one of the most successful fundraisers for the Federation, she has furthermore been tireless in her efforts to promote both our organization and the principles of health and health freedom.  For these reasons and more, the Federation thanks Ms. Carroll for her hard work and devotion to the NHF and health freedom.

Upon accepting this prestigious award in LA, Katherine acknowledged the real health-freedom heroes: "Each of you is committed to staying in the fight; bringing your talents, financial resources, and determination to the front lines day in and day out in a war that will never end as long as we walk this Earth. We are all in it for the long haul in a "total war" effort, which means that the "rear supplies the front," every man, woman, and child participates to give in the ways they are able. This enables those at the front to bring your Voice to Codex where global decisions are created. Each of us at the National Health Federation publicly thanks you all now for keeping Fred Hart's fire burning to propel NHF into the epoch battles ahead. Isn't it amazing that the passion and love of one man can light the World on fire for years to come? Never underestimate your own personal power to impact history. We don't need a single hero.
