FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 18, 2024
As "health freedom" emerges as a key election issue, Stand for Health Freedom (SHF) has unveiled its Health Freedom Policy Blueprint, a comprehensive guide for policymakers to safeguard essential liberties and promote the health and welfare of all Americans.
The blueprint, released less than 18 days before a pivotal election, outlines five pillars to protect individuals' freedom to decide how best to care for themselves and their children: (1) free speech, (2) informed consent, (3) parental rights, (4) privacy, and (5) religious freedom.
"We are at a precipice," said Leah Wilson, Executive Director at SHF. "This blueprint is our commitment to fight for the future of our children and grandchildren."
The comprehensive document outlines several crucial policy solutions. Among those is stopping the overreach of global entities like the World Health Organization (WHO). SHF emphasizes the importance of maintaining local control and strengthening state sovereignty. The blueprint highlights recent actions by states like Louisiana and Oklahoma, which have removed United Nations, WHO, and World Economic Forum jurisdiction from within their borders, ensuring that guidance or edicts from these international organizations cannot be enforced within the state. "We must stop this global power grab and focus on maintaining local control," states the blueprint. "Health freedom policymakers must understand that health and public welfare powers rest first in the state governments."
The blueprint also addresses the emerging issue of School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs) and their potential to undermine parental rights. "The safety of our children must not be traded for convenience," the blueprint emphasizes. It cites several concerning incidents, including a case in Seattle where students were vaccinated for COVID-19 without parental consent, and another in California where a middle school provided birth control to students without parental notification.
SHF, with over 700,000 supporters, takes a non-partisan approach, supporting policies and candidates who protect an individual's right to determine how best to care for themselves and their families. Medical historian Elena Conis notes, "The current crop of candidates suggests the nation might be returning to a time when the medical freedom movement was robust enough... to support political candidates."
