Why I Withdrawal My Support for RFK Jr. and Any Politician Who Stays Silent On Genocidal Acts

On Sept 18th, I decided to openly endorse RFK Jr.’s campaign for presidency, for the  reasons I explain here. My endorsement came with qualifications, including our disagreement on the topic of Israel-Palestine relations, as well as the fact that I was not endorsing the political ego of Bobby, per se, but his policies, and my belief that he has the integrity, conviction and talents to not only champion them, but effectively enact them.

Top among these policies that compelled me to openly support him were his anti-war, anti-corrupltion, and anti-censorship stances, as well as his lifelong advocacy for the health of our planet and children.

Since then, and the unfolding of the horrifying events of October 7th onward, Bobby and I have met and discussed our differing views on the history, facts, and moral implications of what has transpired between Israel and Palestine, and it is now clear to me that our views on the conflict and what must be done about it, are irreconcilable.

I can not in good conscience continue to endorse a man, who I still consider a friend, who I respect, and who I still feel beileves what he knows and is doing is right, when the consequences of doing so may signal that I am in some way in alignment with his views, or even silence, on issues that I believe call for immediate attention and action.

Top among those, is the fact that over 11,000 Palestinians have now been killed by the IDF, almost half of which are children. Given the the median age of Palestinians is 18th, this was a foreseeable consequence even before Israel took retributive action against innocent civilians. Any attempt to justify Israel’s actions, or those who have colluded militarily, financially, or otherwise as a form of “self-defense,” while overlooking the plight of these children, and adult innocent civilians, is unconscionable to me. 

I want to be clear that absent the call for an immediate ceasefire, safe passage for humanitarian missions, and international peace negotiations, I would be out of integrity with myself to expect anything less from a candidate I support, from any political affiliation or office, now, or in the future

I therefore must withdraw my endorsement, while keeping with my original statement that I believe Bobby is sincere in his beliefs, is a man of integrity, and continues to treat me and others he disagrees with with respect, kindness, and a willingness to listen. I hope he will come to explore see the plight of Palestinians in the same sympathetic light that he does the Israelis, and to reexamine the history of Zionism in the region as a fundamentally racist and even antisemetic ideology, as exhibited by its historical behavior of ethnically cleansing the region since the official incepetion of Israel as a state in 1948.

Now is the time for anyone and everyone who sees the ongoing atrocities in the Middle East as the systematic, illegal and immoral destruction of a militarily occupied people to join together, in chorus, to call for an end to the needless violence and to join hands in building a viable, uncompromising peace movement focused on removing our support and implied consent for the behavior of any candidate, political organization, corporation, or stakeholder party contributing to the kind of violence we are witnessing today.
