Epub 2009 Mar 10. PMID: 19278839 Abstract Title: Long-term exposure to magnetic fields and the risks of Alzheimer's disease and breast cancer: Further biological research. Abstract: OBJECTIVE: Extremely low frequency (ELF) and radio frequency (RF) magnetic fields (MFs) pervade our environment. Whether or not these magnetic fields are associated with increased risk of serious diseases, e.g., cancers and Alzheimer's disease, is thus important when developing a rational public policy. The Bioinitiative Report was an effort by internationally recognized scientists who have spent significant time investigating the biological consequences of exposures to these magnetic fields to address this question. Our objective was to provide an unbiased review of the current knowledge and to provide our general and specific conclusions.RESULTS: The evidence indicates that long-term significant occupational exposure to ELF MF may certainly increase the risk of both Alzheimer's disease and breast cancer. There is now evidence that two relevant biological processes (increased production of amyloid beta and decreased production of melatonin) are influenced by high long-term ELF MF exposure that may lead to Alzheimer's disease. There is further evidence that one of these biological processes (decreased melatonin production) may also lead to breast cancer. Finally, there is evidence that exposures to RF MF and ELF MF have similar biological consequences.CONCLUSION: It is important to mitigate ELF and RF MF exposures through equipment design changes and environmental placement of electrical equipment, e.g., AC/DC transformers. Further research related to these proposed and other biological processes is required.
https://greenmedinfo.com/article/high-long-term-exposure-extremely-low-frequency-and-radiofrequency-electromagn#comments Alzheimer's Alzheimer's Disease Breast Cancer Amyloid-Beta Upregulation Carcinogenic (suspected) Electromagnetic Field Harms Electromagnetic Radiation Melatonin Interference Microwave Radiation Mobile Phone Radiation Neurotoxic Wi-Fi Radiation EMF RF-EMF and Cancers Review Fri, 09 Aug 2019 13:09:51 +0000 greenmedinfo 193275 at https://greenmedinfo.com Oxidative stress is intricately involved in the progression of Alzheimer's disease. https://greenmedinfo.com/article/oxidative-stress-intricately-involved-progression-alzheimers-disease PMID: Br J Cancer. 2011 Sep 27 ;105(7):1069-75. Epub 2011 Sep 6. PMID: 21897393 Abstract Title: Incidence trends of vestibular schwannomas in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden in 1987-2007. Abstract: BACKGROUND: The reported incidence rates of vestibular schwannomas (VS) vary substantially, but it is unclear as to what extent the variation reflects differences in risk or recording practices. Our aim was to describe the incidence rates of VS in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden between 1987 and 2007.METHODS: Comprehensive data were available from all registries only for the period from 1987 to 2007. An analysis of a longer time period (1965-2007) was conducted with the Norwegian and Swedish data.RESULTS: The average age-standardised incidence rates during 1987-2007 varied from 6.1 per 1,000,000 person-years (95% confidence interval (CI), 5.4-6.7) among Finnish men to 11.6 (95% CI, 10.4-12.7) in Danish men, and from 6.4 per 1,000,000 person-years (95% CI, 5.7-7.0) among Swedish women to 11.6 (95% CI, 10.5-12.8) among Danish women. An overall annual increase of 3.0% (95% CI 2.1-3.9) was observed when all countries and both sexes were combined, with considerable differences between countries. However, the practices of both reporting and coding VS cases varied markedly between countries and over time, which poses a challenge for interpretation of the results.CONCLUSION: The overall incidence of VS increased in all the four Nordic countries combined between 1987 and 2007, with marked differences between countries. However, the incidence rates more or less stabilised in the late 1990s, showing relatively constant incidence rates and even some decline after 2000.
https://greenmedinfo.com/article/oxidative-stress-intricately-involved-progression-alzheimers-disease#comments Alzheimer's Alzheimer's Disease Neurodegenerative Diseases Oxidative Stress Free Radicals Review Fri, 16 Aug 2019 19:43:25 +0000 greenmedinfo 193968 at https://greenmedinfo.com Shilajit: An Ancient Health Remedy You’ve Never Heard Of https://greenmedinfo.com/blog/shilajit-ancient-health-remedy-you-ve-never-heard
This article is copyrighted by GreenMedInfo LLC, 2017
Visit our Re-post guidelines

https://greenmedinfo.com/blog/shilajit-ancient-health-remedy-you-ve-never-heard#comments Aging Alzheimer's Anxiety Ayurvedic Formulations Blueberry Cancers Cognitive Decline/Dysfunction HIV Honey Inflammation Oxidative Stress Shilajit Skin Problems Arsenic Health Guide: Herbs and Traditional Knowledge Lead Ayurveda Natural Healing traditional medicine Mon, 23 Oct 2017 19:47:56 +0000 GMI reporter 154761 at https://greenmedinfo.com The Amazing Health Benefits of Dancing https://greenmedinfo.com/blog/amazing-health-benefits-dancing
This article is copyrighted by GreenMedInfo LLC, 2023
Visit our Re-post guidelines

The evidence-based health benefits of dancing are numerous and profound. Epub 2017 Dec 24. PMID: 29278690 Abstract Title: Occupational exposure to extremely low frequency magnetic fields and risk of Alzheimer disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis. Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Occupational exposure to extremely low frequency magnetic fields (ELF-MF) occurs in many occupations such as welders, electric utility workers, train drivers and sewing machine operators. There is some evidence suggesting ELF-MF exposure to be a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD). The current study aims at systematically reviewing the literature and conducting a meta-analysis to evaluate the risk of AD amongst workers exposed to ELF-MF.METHODS: Bibliographic databases were searched including PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science in November 2017. Risk of bias was assessed in the all included studies. Pooled estimates were obtained using random-effects meta-analysis. In addition, sources of heterogeneity between studies and publication bias were explored.RESULTS: In total, 20 articles met the inclusion criteria. The pooled results suggest an increased risk of AD (RR: 1.63; 95% CI: 1.35, 1.96). Higher risk estimates were obtained from case-control studies (OR: 1.80; 95% CI: 1.40, 2.32) than from cohort studies (RR: 1.42; 95% CI: 1.08, 1.87).
